How to Order Flowers With an AI Agent

A practical guide to using an AI agent to find flowers, check delivery, prepare checkout, and pay safely with Link or Shopify.

Short answer

An AI agent can search Bloom Lane’s live catalog, check a delivery ZIP and date, and prepare an unpaid Shopify checkout. The buyer then approves payment. A Link Agent Wallet user can approve a single-use virtual card for the Shopify checkout. Buyers without Link can use the payment methods Shopify presents.

What the agent can do now

Bloom Lane publishes a remote MCP server at bloomlaneflowers.com/mcp. A compatible agent can read the tool schemas, search current flowers and plants, check delivery, prepare checkout, and check the order state. The catalog results use current product data and link back to Bloom Lane product pages.

  • Search by occasion, product type, color, or budget
  • Check delivery by US ZIP code and requested date
  • Prepare an idempotent Shopify checkout
  • Open checkout for approval or continue through a compatible UCP client
  • Check whether payment was completed
  • Cancel an unpaid checkout

A safe payment boundary

Bloom Lane MCP does not ask for a card number and does not store a Link credential. Payment stays in Shopify checkout. This makes the order state clear: preparing checkout is not the same as paying for an order.

If the buyer uses Link Agent Wallet, the buyer approves a spend request before the agent receives a limited-use payment credential. Stripe documents a virtual-card option for standard web checkout. The agent should keep that credential out of chat transcripts, logs, and Bloom Lane tool arguments.

What happens without Link

Link is optional. The agent can still prepare the same Shopify checkout. The buyer can finish with an available method such as Shop Pay, Google Pay, or card. A client that supports Shopify UCP can also use the native checkout continuation returned by Bloom Lane when it is available.

Give the agent complete delivery facts

A flower order needs more than a product name. Give the agent the destination ZIP, requested date, budget, recipient name, occasion, and card message. For funeral-home delivery, also provide the deceased person’s full name, the exact funeral-home branch, and the viewing or service time.

Same-day availability can change with the destination, current local time, product, and florist capacity. A search result is not a delivery promise. The agent should call the delivery tool before it creates checkout.

A prompt you can use

Try: “Find a white sympathy arrangement under $175 for delivery to ZIP 10710 on Friday. Show me the options and total estimate before you prepare checkout.” This gives the agent a clear product need, budget, destination, date, and approval point.
