Sending Christmas Flowers When Family Is Traveling
Coordinate Christmas flower gifts around family travel, different gathering addresses, and someone being home to receive them—without assuming holiday delivery guarantees.

Gifts for the agreed receiving plan
Check the actual receiving address and date, not a previous-order address or the recipient's usual home.
Compare gifts for the receiving plan: Agree on an address and day someone can receive the flowers; no holiday timing guarantee is implied. Compare this group.
Check the selected product, delivery ZIP and available date before ordering. Availability and timing require confirmation; holiday-day delivery or arrival before a gathering is not assumed.

Send to where they will be, not where they usually live
Before sending Christmas flowers, ask where the recipient will spend the holiday and when they will be home. A family may celebrate Christmas Eve at one address, Christmas Day at another, and leave for a trip immediately afterward. Their usual delivery address is not enough to plan a gift around those changes.
You do not need a detailed itinerary. Ask for the address and day that would make flowers welcome: “I’d love to send you something for Christmas. Would you enjoy flowers at home before your trip, at the gathering with the host’s agreement, or after you return?” That gives the recipient a choice without creating a surprise they must manage.
Choose between three receiving plans
Before travel
An earlier gift can be thoughtful if the recipient wants to enjoy it at home and has time to care for it. Agree on the day rather than choosing the last day before departure. Do not assume a vase arrangement can sit unattended for a trip or that flowers should travel with the family.
At the gathering
If you want to send to the person hosting Christmas, get that host’s permission and confirm the receiving plan. The recipient may be a guest rather than the person responsible for the address. Make it clear whether the flowers are a gift for the host or for someone attending, so nobody has to decide who will take them home afterward.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are different dates, not interchangeable delivery requests. Confirm the actual gathering day, but do not assume either day is available or that an available date guarantees arrival before dinner.
After they return
If the holiday week is unsettled, flowers after the trip can still be a personal Christmas gesture. Agree on a day when they will be back, able to receive the gift, and willing to care for it. A later delivery is often a better plan than sending to an empty home simply to match a date on the calendar.
Confirm the building handoff separately
For an apartment in NYC, the Bronx, or Westchester, ask who can receive flowers and what the building permits. A doorman or front desk should not be treated as an automatic substitute for the recipient being home. Do not assume staff will store or care for an arrangement while the family is away.
For a hotel or another temporary address, obtain permission and confirm the receiving arrangement before ordering. If acceptance cannot be confirmed, choose another plan. These examples describe questions to ask; they do not establish delivery coverage at every address or a hotel’s obligation to accept a gift.
Choose flowers that fit the agreed destination
Designer’s Choice offers seasonal arrangements in different scales and available palette preferences. Its Petite option is described for a desk or side table. Silver Kiss Bouquet pairs red roses and red carnations with white alstroemeria and white waxflower in a polished silver cylinder, with Classic, Signature and Grand sizes.
Both are options to compare for a welcomed home gift. Neither should be assumed to fit a crowded holiday table or be convenient for someone who must carry it to another address. Ask about space and household restrictions, including any essential flower exclusions, before selecting the design.
Browse Christmas flowers, or compare Designer’s Choice and Silver Kiss Bouquet for the agreed receiving plan. Check availability for the actual product, destination ZIP, and requested date—not the recipient’s usual address from a previous order.
Keep the card personal and the itinerary private
Use the enclosure card for affection, not access instructions or details about an empty home. Send necessary delivery information through the appropriate ordering process. Sign with names the recipient will recognize.
A few messages to adapt:
- Wishing you a lovely Christmas, wherever the week takes you. With love, [Names].
- We cannot be together this Christmas, but we are thinking of you. Love, [Names].
- A little Christmas cheer for your return home. We hope you had a wonderful visit. [Name].
- Thank you for bringing everyone together. Sending warm Christmas wishes, [Names].
If travel plans change, ask before assuming
Contact the seller promptly if the address or day needs to change. Do not assume an order can be rerouted, canceled, or moved after preparation or dispatch. Keep the confirmation so you can identify the order and discuss the available options.
There is no universal Christmas flower cutoff stated here. Holiday schedules, capacity, and product availability can change. If the necessary delivery day cannot be confirmed, agree on another date or another gift rather than relying on an unaccepted timing request. The goal is a gift the recipient can enjoy, not a delivery problem during a busy trip.
Check the selected product, options, destination ZIP and available date before ordering.
