First Date Flowers: When They Feel Right and When They Feel Like Too Much
Decide whether flowers suit a first date or a new relationship, which size to choose, and how to keep a small gesture from feeling like a large one.

A first gesture, if welcome
Use only a destination agreed for this gift; do not infer permission from knowing an address.
Smaller designs to consider: Start with the Classic size of each design. Confirm the selected size, palette and delivery details before ordering. Compare this group.
Check the selected product, delivery ZIP and available date before ordering. Availability and timing require confirmation; a requested arrival time or occasion deadline is not guaranteed by an available delivery day.

Flowers are not wrong for an early relationship, but the wrong size or the wrong delivery can ask more of the other person than you intended. The useful question is not whether flowers are romantic. It is whether this particular person would enjoy receiving them from you at this stage.
Many people ask whether flowers are too much for a first date. The honest answer depends on the person and the moment. A large bouquet handed over at a restaurant can feel like a lot. A small, quiet gesture usually feels easier to receive.
Ask a small question first
If you can, ask before you order. “Do you like flowers, or would you rather keep it simple?” is a low-pressure question that keeps the moment light. It also tells you more than any guide can.
Keep the delivery private and agreed
Do not send flowers to a home or workplace address unless the person has given you that address for this purpose and agreed to the delivery. For a first date, an arrival at a place they did not choose puts them in an awkward position.
If you want something to be waiting for them before dinner, agree a place and time together first. If they would rather not receive anything, accept that and keep the evening simple.
Choose a small design
Early on, start with the Classic size, the smallest option in each design. Violet Tulips are modern and minimal in a clear glass cylinder, easy to carry or display. Daydream Bouquet is softer and more colorful, also in the Classic size.
Save the larger sizes for when you know what the person enjoys and how they respond to small gestures.
Keep the card warm and light
A card for an early relationship should be warm without promising anything. It should not imply commitment or exclusivity before you have talked about it.
“I have enjoyed our conversations more than I expected. I would like to see you again soon.”
“Thank you for a lovely evening. I hope your week gets off to a good start.”
Questions about first date flowers
Are flowers too much on a first date?
They often feel like more than the stage calls for, especially a large arrangement. A small design that is easy to receive, or a simple question about whether flowers would be welcome, is the safer choice.
Should I send flowers to a new girlfriend or boyfriend?
Yes, if they like flowers and you have agreed how you would like to share them. Start with a small gesture, and let their response guide the next one.
Where should first-date flowers be delivered?
Only to an address the person has given you for this purpose, or to a place you have agreed on together. Do not use a home or workplace address without permission.
Start with a Classic-size design. Free delivery is included on every order. Applicable tax is additional.
