Sympathy buying guide

Sending Sympathy Flowers to Two Households: One Gift or Two?

Decide whether to send one service tribute or separate sympathy gifts to relatives living apart. Coordinate recipients, budgets, products, and delivery without assuming a multi-address order.

Home gifts considered separately

Confirm each household's wishes, address and date independently; one approved gift does not approve the other.

Choose each gift for its recipient: Check each address and availability separately. Serenity Basket Signature is the home or smaller-gathering option; an orchid must be welcomed. Compare this group.

Check the selected product, delivery ZIP and available date before ordering. Availability and timing require confirmation; arrival before a service is not guaranteed by an available delivery day.

Two addresses do not create an obligation to buy twice

When a surviving partner and other bereaved relatives live separately, one welcomed tribute at the service can express sympathy to the family together. Separate home gifts can also be thoughtful if each recipient wants one. Choose according to your relationships, the family’s wishes, and what you can comfortably afford—not a rule that every household must receive matching flowers.

Read the family’s notice first. A request for donations or no flowers should not become an excuse to send unwanted gifts to several homes. A personal card or practical offer of help may be the better response.

Decide whether you are remembering someone together or supporting people separately

A service tribute has one confirmed destination and can carry all the sender names. It may suit a family gathering when flowers are welcomed there. It should not be ordered on the assumption that the funeral home will divide it or deliver portions to different relatives afterward.

Separate home gifts serve a different purpose. You might want to support a close friend at home while also acknowledging a surviving parent. Ask an appropriate contact whether that would be useful. Two relatives may have different preferences, household restrictions, or availability; one shared design need not fit both.

If the question is instead which event should receive one arrangement, see flowers for multiple funeral services. That guide concerns venues and transfers, not separate gifts to separate people.

Choose each home gift for its recipient

Gentle Embrace is a home-sympathy arrangement offered in white-and-green or soft pastel. It is an option to compare for someone who would welcome flowers, with any essential flower exclusions confirmed before purchase.

Serenity Basket offers a Signature option described for the home or a smaller gathering. Its Service option is a substantial floor basket, and Grand adds height and fullness. Do not assume the service-size basket is a suitable gift for an apartment simply because the product also appears in a home collection.

For a recipient who wants a living plant, consider Signature Orchid, but confirm their willingness to care for it and any household requirements. A plant is not automatically easier to receive than flowers. The sympathy plant guide can help with that separate decision.

The gifts do not have to match in size or price. A signed card can be just as personal when another household prefers not to receive flowers.

Coordinate addresses without sharing private information

Obtain each address for the purpose of the gift. Do not copy a private address into a shared group message or put delivery access details on the enclosure card. Confirm who will receive each arrangement and use the correct apartment or unit information.

Keep each recipient’s details separate: selected product, destination ZIP, requested date, card, and order reference if an order is placed. Check availability independently for each destination. One available ZIP or date does not establish availability for the other.

Do not assume a cart can send different items to different addresses, that delivery charges are shared, or that two gifts will arrive together. Ask how the distinct deliveries should be arranged before payment. This guide does not promise a multi-address checkout feature or a discount for buying twice.

Write two personal cards, not two copies by default

A brief message can acknowledge each relationship without making assumptions about grief:

  • For a surviving partner: “Thinking of you and remembering [Name] with affection. With love, [Sender].”
  • For an adult child: “Your [parent] meant so much to us. We are thinking of you and your family. [Sender names].”

Adapt the words to the people you actually know. Avoid comparing the gifts or describing who received the larger arrangement. Make sure both households can recognize the sender.

Browse sympathy flowers for the home, or choose one service tribute if that better fits the family’s wishes. There is no required number of purchases and no need to spend beyond your means to express care.
