Start with the table, not the flower photo
A Thanksgiving centerpiece should fit around the meal, not make the meal fit around it. Before ordering flowers, put out the serving dishes, place settings, glasses, and anything else that will stay on the table. Measure the space left for an arrangement, then ask about the selected design’s finished height and width, including its vase.
A label such as Petite or Classic is not a measurement. A compact vase arrangement can suit a side table while still being too tall or too wide for your dinner layout. If you cannot confirm that it fits, choose another display position rather than planning to rebuild the flowers yourself.
Decide where the food will be served
For a family-style meal, leave room for bowls and platters to move between guests. If you serve from a buffet, the dining table may have more room for flowers—but the buffet itself still needs clear space for food and serving utensils.
One arrangement in the center is not the only option. Flowers on a sideboard or entry table can bring color to the gathering without competing with dinner. On a long table, ask whether several smaller pieces would work better than one large arrangement; do not assume an ordinary product order includes multiple containers or a custom set.
Write down your maximum usable footprint and preferred height before asking the florist. Include the container in those limits. A helpful request is: “The flowers would sit between two serving platters, with guests seated on both sides. Please confirm the finished dimensions and whether this design suits that placement.”
Keep people, not just flowers, in view
Consider whether seated guests can see and talk to each other across the arrangement. You can place an empty vase or another object where you plan to put the flowers and sit in the nearby chairs to check the proposed height. That helps you judge the space; it does not establish the dimensions of a product you have not received.
Also think about viewing angles. A design that looks good from the front may be better on a sideboard than in the middle of the table. Ask whether the selected arrangement is intended to be viewed from several sides. A single photograph does not show its back.
Compare Thanksgiving designs by their actual format
Choose the display format first, then confirm whether the selected option fits your table. A vase bouquet, basket, pumpkin arrangement and cornucopia are different choices; none of those names supplies finished measurements or guarantees a clear view between seated guests.
Basket and cornucopia formats
Harvest Sunflower Basket features sunflowers, roses and dianthus in a natural woven basket. Bouquet of Blessings Cornucopia offers a Thanksgiving cornucopia with lilies, roses, chrysanthemums and solidago. Confirm the full footprint, height and viewing angles of either design rather than treating its seasonal styling as a fit guarantee.
Vase bouquets and a seasonal pitcher
Apple Picking Bouquet combines roses, mums and solidago in a mason jar vase. Fall’s Finest Bouquet brings burgundy, orange and cream flowers together in a seasonal pitcher. Fall Foliage Bouquet offers a softer mix featuring roses, hydrangea and solidago.
The Outdoors Bouquet, Sunflower Season Bouquet and Scents of Autumn Bouquet offer sunny seasonal directions. Afternoon Light Bouquet emphasizes orange shades, while Scarlet Skies Bouquet includes red roses, terracotta poms and lilies. Confirm container details and finished dimensions for your selected option before deciding between the dining table, sideboard and entry table.
Pumpkin arrangements
Golden Gourd Pumpkin Bouquet features roses, sunflowers and solidago in a pumpkin vase. Autumn Air Pumpkin Bouquet features burnt orange and rich red flowers, including roses, carnations and hypericum berries, in a pumpkin container. Confirm container availability; a decorative pumpkin is not evidence of food-serving suitability.
All twelve designs offer Classic, Signature and Grand at $120, $150 and $199 respectively. These names do not establish dimensions, stem counts, or equivalence to FTD’s size tiers. The product photo is a design reference, not confirmation of the selected size. Flowers and containers may vary with availability; confirm essential requirements before ordering.
Ask about household restrictions before choosing stems
Tell the florist about any flower exclusions or household restrictions that matter. A seasonal mix is not automatically fragrance-free, allergy-safe, or pet-safe.
Afternoon Light Bouquet, Bouquet of Blessings Cornucopia and Scarlet Skies Bouquet list lilies without identifying their type. Do not choose them for a home with cats. The FDA warns that true lilies and daylilies are very dangerous for cats, including stems, leaves, flowers, pollen and vase water, and advises against bringing these lilies into a home with a cat. Confirm the complete ingredients of any alternative, including substitutions; none of these designs is certified pet-safe. If lily exposure is suspected, immediately contact a veterinarian or pet poison-control center.
Keep flower containers away from hot serving equipment and open flames. Use a stable display position and protect the table surface as appropriate for the container.
Questions about centerpiece candles
Can I light the candles included with a floral centerpiece?
The current fall line does not promise included candles. If you add candles separately or choose another candle-bearing design, do not treat a product photo as permission to light them. Ask for the specific product and candleholder instructions first. Leave candles unlit unless the instructions permit use and safety requirements can be confirmed.
What general candle precautions matter near flowers?
The U.S. Fire Administration recommends considering battery-operated flameless candles. Its guidance for lit candles calls for stable holders where candles cannot easily be knocked down, keeping candles at least 12 inches from anything that burns, and extinguishing them when leaving a room or home or going to bed.
These are general precautions, not approval to light a supplied centerpiece candle. The flowers, leaves, wheat and nearby table decorations must not be assumed to meet the clearance requirement. A glass hurricane does not certify it either. If the requirements cannot be confirmed, keep the supplied candles unlit. For a separate candle-effect display, consider battery-operated flameless candles; do not replace or modify the supplied candles or holders without specific product permission.
Does a larger floral size mean more candles or a larger holder?
Classic, Signature and Grand do not establish candle counts, holder dimensions or verified flame clearance. The current fall arrangements do not promise candles. For any separate candle-bearing design, confirm its selected size details and product instructions rather than inferring changes from the tier name.
Coordinate arrival with preparation, not just dinner time
Choose a delivery day when someone can receive the flowers and follow the arrangement’s care instructions. An earlier day can give you time to set the table, but confirm it with the household and check that the selected date is available.
An available delivery date does not guarantee arrival before guests sit down. Holiday capacity, product availability, and local fulfillment can vary. If the arrangement must be present for a particular meal, confirm that essential timing before ordering rather than relying on an order note.
